BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford men's tennis team defeated Birmingham-Southern, 6-1 at the BSC Fall Classic on Friday at the Birmingham-Southern Tennis Complex. After the doubles match, Samford finished the singles 2-1, before winning all six singles matches.
"We were a little tight starting out in doubles," said head coach Kemper Baker. "We held our own and played well. I hope we can do the same tomorrow against Jacksonville State."
In No. 1 doubles, James Bryce and Johnny Griffee won 8-6, while in No. 3 doubles Hank Grant and Stuart Misner won 8-0.
To performers for singles were Griffee and Joey Jenson, whom both finished without letting his opponent score. Both finished their singles match 6-0, 6-0.
All winning in singles, Misner finished No. 1 singles with scores of 6-4, 6-1, Miletic (No. 2) recorded a win with scores of 6-4, 7-5, Bradley Weaver (No. 3) finished with a tie breaker score of 10-7 (6-2, 4-6) and Grant (No.4) recorded a win with scores of 6-4, 6-0.
The Bulldogs will continue competition at the BSC fall Classic, Saturday (Oct. 2), as they will battle Jacksonville State at 10 a.m.
