Football Puts Finishing Touches On Game Plan For Murray State

Oct. 7, 2004

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford University football team practiced for an hour and a half Thursday afternoon on the practice fields on the Samford campus. The team put the final touches on its game plan for Saturday's game at Murray State.

Samford head coach Bill Gray said he was pleased with his team's workout on Thursday.

"We had a good day of practice today," Gray said. "We are ready for a tough game on Saturday. They are a team that is ahead of us in the league, and that is incentive enough to play hard. We just have to find a way to win. We have a big challenge in front of us.

"If we can protect the football and not turn it over, we have a chance to win," Gray said. "If we can cut down on our penalties, be more patient on defense and not give up the big play, then we have an even better chance to win."

Samford and Murray State are scheduled to kickoff at 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon in Murray, Ky. The game can be heard locally on WVSU-FM 91.1, or worldwide on the internet at www.samfordsports.com. The game will also be televised on a tape-delay basis by ACN Sports. The broadcast can be seen on WOTM-TV in Birmingham at 3:00 p.m. Sunday and at 10:30 p.m. Monday.
