Tip: 7 p.m. at Seibert Hall on the Campus of Samford University
Samford: The Bulldogs (10-13, 5-7) return home for the first time since Jan. 31, and will be trying to snap a four-game losing streak against conference-leading Austin Peay. The Bulldogs lead the Ohio Valley Conference in three categories heading into this week's action. Samford leads the league in 3-point FG pct. (40.9 percent), rebounding defense (29.2), and made three's per game at 9.71. The Bulldogs are second in the league in three more categories; scoring defense, FT percentage, and FG percentage. Head coach Jimmy Tillette shook up his starting lineup against Morehead State as reserves Sebastian Sachse, Josh Hare and Randall Gulina each made their first starts of the season. Tyson Dorsey saw his streak of 22 consecutive starts end, while Phillip Ramelli came off the bench for the first time in three years. Prior to Saturday, Ramelli had started the last 78 games in which he had played. He missed two games during that stretch due to injury.
Austin Peay: The defending OVC Champs are riding a 19-game conference winning streak. The Governors (16-7, 13-0) will wrap up the top-seed in the OVC Tournament with its next victory or a loss by Murray State. APSU has won 13-straight games since falling at Kentucky on Dec. 31, 61-53. The Govs have not lost an OVC game since falling to Eastern Illinois on Feb. 20, 2003. Adrian Henning leads the team at 13.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Anthony Davis chips in 12.3 points per game but its defense that has kept the Govs in the win column. APSU allows opponents to an OVC best 60 points per game. The Govs lead the OVC in scoring FG defense and 3-pt. FG defense while scoring just 65 points per game
Inside Stuff: Austin Peay leads the overall series 6-3 after taking the first game of the season series 61-56 in Clarksville on Feb. 7. It was APSU's second straight win in the series after Samford won two-straight during the 1995 season. The series began on Jan. 31, 1973 with the Govs winning 98-75 in Clarksville.
