BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford University women's basketball team will play host to the Tennessee Tech Golden Eaglettes Saturday afternoon in Seibert Hall in an Ohio Valley Conference showdown.
Samford enters the game with a record of 9-15 overall and 2-11 in the OVC after a 66-61 loss to Austin Peay Thursday night. Tennessee Tech is currently 15-9 overall and 10-3 in the OVC after defeating Jacksonville State, 79-55, on Thursday.
Saturday's game will mark the second meeting between Samford and Tennessee Tech in women's basketball. The two teams met for the first time earlier this season on Feb. 5, with Tennessee Tech defeating Samford, 76-57, in Cookeville, Tenn.
Alex Munday is currently leading Samford in scoring (14.5 ppg.), and rebounding (5.9 rpg.). Cora Beth Smith leads the team in assists with 75 and steals with 28. Chelsee Insell leads in three-pointers made (55) and three-pointers attempted (122). Insell and freshman Veronica Pike share the team lead in free throws made with 49.
