Tip: 7 p.m. CT at Seibert Hall on the Campus of Samford University.
Samford (11-15, 6-9) will try to end the regular season on a positive note against Tennessee State (7-18, 6-8) on Senior Night Thursday night at Seibert Hall. The Tigers have a half game lead on the Bulldogs in the OVC standings but a win by Samford would give the Bulldogs a tiebreaker advantage against the Tigers.
Samford: Samford seniors Phillip Ramelli, Eddie Harper, Tyson Dorsey, and Sebastian Sachse will be playing their final game in front of the home fans at Seibert Hall. Samford has clinched a spot in next week's Ohio Valley Conference tournament but the Bulldogs will have to wait until Saturday to find out where they will play. If Samford wins on Thursday, it will finish either fifth or sixth depending on the outcome of Saturday's Morehead State/ Tennessee Tech game. If the Bulldogs lose on Thursday, Samford will finish either seventh or eighth depending on Saturday's game between Jacksonville State and Tennessee State.
Tennessee State: The Tigers have won three of their last four games after defeating Tennessee-Martin 81-72 on Saturday. Picked last in the OVC preseason poll, TSU has been one of the league's biggest surprises. Freshman of the Year candidate Bruce Price has been the OVC Freshman of the Week six times this season. He leads the team averaging 17.9 points per game. Roshaun Brown is next at 16.4 points and a team-leading 6.4 rebounds per game. Price has taken 42 percent of the Tigers' free throws this season.
Inside Stuff: The Bulldogs and Tigers have split their eight preivous meetings after Tennessee State took a 60-48 victory in Nashville on Jan. 10. Samford is 2-1 against the Tigers in Birmingham having lost the last game played at Seibert Hall 72-60 during the 1986 season.
