BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford baseball team will play host to the Georgia State Panthers at Joe Lee Griffin Field Tuesday night, and will play at 24th -ranked Mississippi State Wednesday evening.
Samford enters the week with a record of 3-13 overall after losing two games to Middle Tennessee last week. Georgia State is currently 6-15 overall and 3-5 in the Atlantic Sun after being swept in a three-game series at Stetson last weekend. Mississippi State comes into the week with a record of 13-4 overall and 1-2 in the SEC after losing two of three games to Tennessee over the weekend.
Samford is led offensively by Matt Alling, batting a team-high .426 (26-for-61) with a team-leading 22 RBI. Alling's 26 hits are the most on the team as well. Garrett Rice is second on the team with a .373 (25-for-67) batting average.
On the mound, Joseph Edens has a record of 1-3 and a 4.01 ERA in 24.2 innings of work. Stephen Artz has thrown a team-high 38.1 innings, and has a 4.23 ERA for the season.
Samford and Georgia State will play at 6:00 p.m. at Joe Lee Griffin Field on Tuesday, and the Bulldogs will take on Mississippi State at 6:30 p.m. in Starkville, Miss., on Wednesday.
