Football Holds First Full Scrimmage of the Spring

March 6, 2004

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team held it's first full scrimmage of the spring with a two-hour session Saturday morning at Seibert Stadium. The Bulldogs worked on fundamentals on both sides on the ball, trying to see who was ready to make an impact next season.

"We got a lot of snaps in this morning, which afforded us the opportunity to see a lot of different situations," Head coach Bill Gray said. "Coming out today we said that we wanted to play aggressively and for the most part we saw that. At times they were a little spotty, but we have some young guys who still need to learn how to play at this level."

Gray noted the outstanding play of John Williams and Brad Baker.

"Both John and Brad came out this morning and played with a lot of intensity," Gray said. "John has been splitting time with track, but you can see that he is working extremely hard. Brad is stepping up both on the field and as a leader. His work ethic is unmatched and he is making strides every time he steps on the field."

The Bulldogs will return to work Monday afternoon at 3:45.
