Women's Cross Country Team Named Academic All-American

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford women's cross country team was named to the 2003 Academic All-American Teams by the Women's Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association. The Bulldogs finished with a team grade point average of 3.524 and is one of two Ohio Valley Conference schools honored.

"This is a great honor for our women's cross country team," Assistant Athletics Director/Academic Service Chris Scott said. "It is a reflection on the caliber student-athletes that we have at Samford University and their hard work in the classroom."

"It is always exciting to be recognized for outstanding achievement in the classroom," Head coach Glenn McWaters said.

The Bulldogs also excelled in competition as well, finishing second in the OVC Championship and having four student-athletes named to All-OVC teams.
