BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford baseball team will play a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series at Southeast Missouri State this weekend. The teams will play a doubleheader on Friday at 1:00 p.m., and a single game on Saturday, also at 1:00 p.m.

Samford enters the series with a record of 4-20 overall and 0-6 in the OVC after being swept in a three-game series by Austin Peay last weekend. SEMO is currently 13-15 overall and 3-3 in league play. The Indians lost two-of-three games to Jacksonville State last weekend.

Samford is led statistically by Matt Alling, batting .416 (37-for-89) for the season. Alling's 37 hits and 29 RBI lead the team as well. He is second on the team in doubles (6) and is tied for the team lead in home runs with two.

Stephen Artz has been the most consistent performer on the pitching staff so far this season. Artz has made six starts in eight appearances, has an ERA of 4.17 and a record of 1-4. He leads the team in strike outs with 43, while walking just 11 batters. He also leads the team in innings pitched with 45.1 on the season.

Both of Friday's games can be heard on the internet at www.samfordsports.com, and Saturday's game can be heard in the Birmingham area on WVSU-FM 91.1.
