The Samford baseball team will play at 32nd-ranked Vanderbilt in a non-conference game in Nashville, Tenn., Wednesday night.
Samford enters the week with a record of 18-28 overall and 10-11 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Bulldogs are coming off a three-game OVC series sweep at Tennessee Tech last weekend. Vanderbilt enters the contest with a record of 33-14 overall and 12-12 in the Southeastern Conference after winning two-of-three games against Tennessee over the weekend.
Samford is led at the plate by Matt Alling, batting .379 (66-for-174). He also leads the team in RBI (41), hits (66) and triples (6). Richard Bishop currently leads the team in home runs (7), while Michael Collins is the team-leader in doubles (16).
Stephen Artz and Joseph Edens have been the leaders of the pitching staff. Artz is 5-5 with a 4.11 ERA and a team-high 93 strike outs. Edens also has a record of 5-5 and a team-best ERA of 3.91.
