McMiller And White Win Second-Round Doubles Match Against Texas Tech

Sept. 24, 2004

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The women's tennis team competed today (Sept. 24) at the Roberta Alison Fall Classic, hosted by the University of Alabama at the UA Tennis Complex in Tuscaloosa, Ala. In day one of competition, freshman Katie McMiller and sophomore Emily White defeated Texas Tech, 8-5, in a second-round doubles match this afternoon.

We were green in many areas of today's tournament," said head coach Terri Sisk. "Today was an eye opener for our team, but I feel good about how we played. This tournament has some really tough teams competing, which I think is good for our team. Although we didn't have many wins, I feel confident that this team will learn from this tournament experience and get mentally and physically stronger."

Other top performances for the Bulldogs, in a doubles match Amber Dyar and sophomore Bethany Benson lost to Auburn in a tie breaker (8-7; 9-7).

The Bulldogs will continue competition at the Roberta Alison Fall Classic tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 25.
