MEMPHIS, Tenn. ---- The Samford University women's tennis team concluded the University of Memphis/Varsity Pro Shop Invitational on a high note as four Bulldog netters won championships of their respective draws.
Whitney Warren won the Number 3 singles draw, defeating Georgia Southern's Kimberly Wollet in a thrilling 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 match.
Katie McMiller won another exciting match, as she beat Zelika Minic of Arkansas State 7-5, 2-6, 7-5 in the Number 4 singles draw.
In doubles play, Bethany Benson and Christie Baker won the Number 4 doubles draw, defeating Georgia Southern's Matlosz and Memphis's Russo 8-0.
Additionally, Sarah McKey came back to win the Number 3 singles consolation final, defeating Saint Louis's Tara Grant 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.
The Bulldogs will have an opportunity to showcase their 2005-06 squad when they return to action Oct. 28-29 to compete in the Birmingham-Southern Tournament.
