Volleyball Heads To Nashville

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford University volleyball team will head to Nashville, Tenn., to take on non-conference rival Lipscomb on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Samford (4-12, 1-3) will face Lipscomb (5-13, 2-0) for the second time this season. The two teams first met when the Bulldogs hosted the Lady Bisons on Sept. 9 following the cancellation of the University of New Orleans' Tournament that weekend.

The Bulldogs won the five-game match 25-30, 30-22, 31-33, 30-20, 15-10 in the teams' last meeting. Samford totaled 59 kills in the match and had three players with double-digit kills, as Sara Sears tallied 20, Kirstein Sosnowski totaled 12 and Angela Dempski added 11. Sears tallied 15 kills, for a double-double, and hit a season-high .395. Jackie Jaszcz assisted in 43 of the team's 59 kills and earned three kills of her own. Ashley Klare had five service aces in the match, along with 9 kills and 15 digs.

Samford's victory over Lipscomb was the teams' first meeting, putting the Bulldogs at 1-0 in the all-time series.

Samford is averaging 13.6 kills per game this season, along with 12.3 assists per game. The Bulldogs have totaled 843 kills this season, with Sears' leading the way with 233. Jaszcz leads the team with 657 of Samford's 762 total assists.

Lipscomb is averaging 13.12 kills per game this season, totaling 879. Lindsey Rutherford leads the Lady Bison's in kills with 205.
