BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford baseball team will play a three-game series at in-state rival Troy this weekend at Troy's Riddle-Pace Field.

Samford enters the game with a record of 1-0 after a 5-3 win at Georgia State. Troy is currently 1-2 after losing two of three games in a series at Nicholls State.

Samford will start Scott Fowler on the mound in his first appearance of the season on Friday, while Stephen Artz and Joseph Edens (1-0) are scheduled as the starting pitchers for the last two games of the series.

Samford and Troy met seven times in the Bulldogs' first 10 games last season. The teams first met in a pair of three-game series, one in Troy, Ala., and one in Birmingham. The teams also met in the Wiregrass Classic in Dothan, Ala. The Trojans won all seven of the meetings last season.

Friday's game is scheduled for 8:00 p.m., while Saturday's and Sunday's games are each scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
