Baseball To Play At Alabama Wednesday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford baseball team will play at Alabama on Wednesday at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

Samford enters the game with a record of 1-6. The Bulldogs were swept in a doubleheader by UNC Asheville on Saturday. Alabama is currently 8-3 on the season. The Crimson Tide is coming off a three-game sweep of Duquesne over the weekend.

Samford has won two of its last three games against Alabama, including the last two played in Tuscaloosa. Last season, Samford won the only meeting, a 10-5 win in Tuscaloosa. In 2003, the teams split two meeting, with Samford winning in Tuscaloosa, 8-2, and Alabama winning in Birmingham by a score of 3-2.

Statistically, Justin Worthington leads Samford with 10 hits, while Matt Alling and Garrett Rice have eight hits apiece. Alling is the team-leader in RBI with 10, while Rice has driven in six runs.
