Women's Tennis Claims Conference Win Over SEMO, 6-1

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford University women's tennis team (8-3, 3-1 OVC) defeated OVC-rival Southeast Missouri, 6-1 on Sunday (March 13) at the Darwin C. Hardison Tennis Center, located on the campus of Samford University.

In doubles, the Bulldogs gained the doubles point after winning at court No. 2 and No.3. Samford's Emily White / Sarah McKey lost the only match for the Bulldogs against SEMO's Kristal sisters, 8-6.

In singles, the Bulldogs won five out of six to take the match as Samford's Sarah McKey defeated SEMO's Drew Kristal (6-3, 6-4) at court No. 2, while Bulldog Katie McMiller beat SEMO's Danielle Garcia (6-3, 6-1) at court No. 3. Samford's Bethany Benson won against SEMO's Ashley Hooper (6-1, 6-0) at court No. 4, while Bulldog Katie Crawford defeated SEMO's Kimmy Anderson (6-2, 6-1) at court No. 5. Bulldog Christie Baker finished off the Redhawks at court No. 6 with the final win against SEMO's Kim Roberts (6-1, 6-0).

The Bulldogs will travel to play OVC-rival Jacksonville State on Tuesday, March 15 at 1:30 p.m in Jacksonville, Ala. Match time is set for 1:30p.m. The Bulldogs will play host to OVC-rival Austin Peay on Wednesday, March 16 at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday's competition will take place at the Darwin C. Tennis Center, located on the campus of Samford University.
