JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - The Samford University women's tennis team (9-3, 4-1) defeated Jacksonville State, 4-0. The Bulldogs earned its fourth conference win today (March 15).

"Overall the team played very good today," said head coach Terri Sisk. "We really showed how well we are improving in doubles as the girls truly fought hard today."

The Bulldogs gained the doubles point with Katie McMiller / Lauren Pitcher losing the only match for Samford against JSU's Erin Higgs/ Zeyneo Gurkaynak, 8-5.

In singles at No. 2, No.4 and No. 6, each was called due to weather. Samford's Emily White won at court No. 1 against JSU's Gurkey (6-3, 6-1), while at court No. 3 Bulldog McMiller defeated JSU's Robin Gorman (7-6 (5), 6-2) and at court No. 5 Samford's Katie Crawford won against JSU's Layla Abby (6-4, 4-6, 6-2)

The Bulldogs will play host to Austin Peay on Wednesday, March 16 at 2:30 p.m., while the women's team will face Savannah State on Friday, March 18 at 3 p.m. Both Bulldog teams will play host to Murray State on Saturday, March 19 at noon. Samford's home matches will take place at the Darwin C. Hardison Tennis Center, located on the campus of Samford University.
