Baseball Takes On Butler And Dayton This Weekend

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford baseball team will play host to three games against Butler and one with Dayton this weekend at Joe Lee Griffin Field.

Samford and Butler will play a single game on Friday and a doubleheader on Saturday. Samford will then take on Dayton in a single game on Sunday.

Samford enters the weekend with a record of 2-10 after a 12-11 win at Southeastern Louisiana Sunday afternoon. Butler is currently 2-9 and is coming off a 6-2 loss at Alabama. Dayton currently has a record of 9-5.

Chandler Tidwell will start Friday's game on the mound for Samford. Tidwell is currently 0-3 with a 9.00 ERA on the season. Stephen Artz will start the second game, bringing in a record of 0-2 and an ERA of 7.77. For the third game of the Butler series, the starter is scheduled to be Joseph Edens. Edens is currently 1-1 with a 6.20 ERA. The starters for the two Dayton games have yet to be determined.

Statistically for Samford, Justin Worthington leads the team in hitting with a .359 average and 14 hits. Matt Alling leads the team in RBI with 12 and in home runs with three.

The first pitch for Friday's game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Saturday's doubleheader will start at 1:00 p.m., while Sunday's game is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday's doubleheader can be heard locally on WVSU-FM 91.1, or worldwide on the internet at www.samfordsports.com.
