BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford University softball team's Ohio Valley Conference game against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, which was originally scheduled to be played on Wednesday, has been moved to Thursday at 6 p.m., announced head coach Beanie Ketcham.
The game was postponed due to the heavy rainfall that it is expected to hit the Birmingham area on Wednesday.
The change marked the second time that Samford and Jacksonville State have rescheduled a game this season due to inclement weather. Earlier this year, the in-state rivals postponed a doubleheader scheduled to be played in Jacksonville, Ala.
The games were played a day later on March 23, and the teams split the contests. The winner of Thursday's matchup will claim victory in the seasonal series.
The Samford University softball team will look to improve to 5-2 against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks under Coach Ketcham on Thursday as the Bulldogs host their in-state rival in a key OVC matchup beginning at 6 p.m., at Bulldog Field.
