BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--The Samford University baseball team will play host to the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles in a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series this weekend at Joe Lee Griffin Field.

Samford enters the game with a record of 14-31 overall and 7-11 in the OVC after dropping two-of-three games at Morehead State last weekend. Tennessee Tech is currently 11-33 overall and 5-12 in conference play. The Golden Eagles were swept last weekend at Jacksonville State.

Samford's 7-11 conference record places the Bulldogs in a tie for sixth in the league with Eastern Illinois and Southeast Missouri. Morehead State leads the conference with a record of 13-4. Tennessee Tech is currently ninth in the conference with a 5-12 league mark.

Last season, Samford swept Tennessee Tech in a three-game series in Cookeville, Tenn. Samford won the games by scores of 7-2, 17-3 and 8-4. Trey Moody hit for the cycle in game two of the series.

Samford is scheduled to start Parker Gargis, Stephen Artz and Chandler Tidwell in this weekend's series with Tennessee Tech. Gargis will start game one, Artz will go in game two and Tidwell is scheduled to start in the final game of the series. Gargis has a record of 2-5 and an ERA of 6.82. Artz is 3-6 on the year with a 4.46 ERA. Tidwell now has a record of 2-7 and an ERA of 5.88.

Justin Worthington's .330 batting average currently leads the team. Bear Burnett currently leads the team in hits with 45, while Matt Alling's 35 RBI are tops on the team. Garrett Rice currently leads the team in home runs with five.
