BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Samford University men's golf team has been assigned to the West site of the 2005 NCAA Regionals, announced today (May 9) by the NCAA office. The Bulldogs will head to their first-ever NCAA competition, hosted by Stanford University in Stanford, Calif. The competition will take place at the Stanford Golf Course on Thursday-Saturday, May 19-21.
The Bulldogs automatically qualified for the 2005 NCAA Regionals after winning the 2005 O'Reilly/ OVC Championships in April 2005. Samford's Bradley Farmer finished as the OVC MVP/ Individual Champion for the competition with a score of 213 (74-69-70).
Along with Farmer, the winning team consisted of Nathan Turner and Andrew Villarreal, who both finished in fifth place with a score of 218. Samford's Ryan Mayberry shot 224 (71-78-75) for 26th place, while Reed Davis carded 235 (77-81-77) in a tie for 48th place.
