BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford football team practiced for two hours in full pads Tuesday afternoon at Seibert Stadium. The team began working on its game plan for Saturday's game at 10th-ranked Furman.
"We came out of the weekend healthy, and it is good to see everyone out here working," Samford head coach Bill Gray said. "We are starting to implement some things that we hope will make us successful against Furman this weekend."
Gray said the players are looking forward to playing a top-10 team like Furman.
"They are a quality program, and they have great tradition," Gray said. "They have a good coaching staff that does a great job. It is an opportunity for us to go up there and play in a tough environment and play a quality opponent. We will see if we have gotten better as a football team.
"Our guys are excited about going up there," Gray said. "The biggest thing we are harping on is the fact that it takes just three or four plays to turn a ballgame around, and hopefully we can be the team to make those plays."
Samford will practice again on Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. at Seibert Stadium. The team will leave Friday morning for Greenville, S.C. Saturday's game at Furman is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. Central kickoff. The game can be heard locally on WVSU-FM 91.1, or worldwide on the internet at www.samfordsports.com or www.al.com/wvsu.
