Women's Basketball Adds Third Signee

Nov. 14, 2006

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford women's basketball program has signed Savannah Hill to a national letter of intent, head coach Mike Morris announced Tuesday.

"We are very excited to have Savannah join our team," Morris said. "As a 6-1 post player Savannah has the ability to score from anywhere on the floor. She is a great addition to our program on and off the court."

Hill (6-1, F, Elora, Tenn., Lincoln County HS) averaged 13.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game last season at Lincoln County High School. She is a two-time All-District 8-AAA selection, and she was named her team's Most Valuable Player last season.

Hill holds school records for rebounds in a season and offensive rebounds in a game and in a season. Last season, she also led her team in steals and free-throw percentage.

Hill is Samford's third signee for the 2007 signing class. She joins Emily London and Alex Crow, who signed with the Bulldogs last week.

"With the signing of Savannah we have completed our recruiting class," Morris said. "We feel very fortunate to have signed three quality players as well as people. The majority of the credit for this class should go to Coach Latrice McLin. She did an outstanding job of recognizing the right players for Samford, building good relationships and selling Samford University."

The Samford women's basketball team will be back in action Friday night when the Bulldogs play at Memphis at 7:00 p.m.
