Football Readies For Season Finale

Nov. 8, 2006

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team practiced for about an hour and a half in shells Wednesday afternoon at Seibert Stadium. The Bulldogs are preparing for Saturday's season finale at Jacksonville State.

"We were able to get some things done today," Samford head coach Bill Gray said. "The rest of this week will be more mental preparation. As long as we know what to do and when to do it, we have a chance because the effort will be there. Hopefully we can eliminate some mistakes."

The game will be the final game of the season for the Bulldogs. It will also be the final game in a Samford uniform for the team's 17 seniors.

"They have been through some tough times, but they have learned a lot," Gray said of the seniors. "These guys have worked the same each week, regardless of the outcome of the previous game. They have left their mark on this program, and we would love for them to go out with a great feeling on Saturday."

Samford will practice again Thursday at 4:00 p.m., and the Bulldogs will hold a final walk-through Friday afternoon at 4:15 p.m.

Saturday's game is scheduled for an 11:00 a.m. kickoff from JSU's Paul Snow Memorial Stadium. The game will be televised live on CSS. It can also be heard locally on WVSU-FM 91.1, or worldwide on the internet at www.al.com/wvsu or www.samfordsports.com.
