Samford Tennis Signs Alabama Native To 2007-08 Roster

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford men's tennis team had signed Cullman, Ala., native Adam Witcher to a scholarship to play tennis for the 2007-08 season.

"We are extremely proud to have Adam join our program at Samford," Samford Head Coach Kemper Baker said. "He has distinguished himself as not only one of the premier student athletes in Alabama, but a leader in his community. He will be an asset to the University.'

Witcher, a senior at Cullman High School, is captain of the CHS tennis team. He has been the captain and the MVP of the tennis team for the past four years. In addition, he has earned six varsity letters in tennis and two in cross country. He is also the 2006 Alabama 5A State Singles Champion, and was named the Encore Athlete of the Week by the Cullman Times.

Witcher is ranked 14th out of 200 in his class at Cullman High school and maintains a 4.01 GPA. He is a member of the National Honor Society, the Student Government Association and the Key Club. He was named to the to the Who's Who Among American High School Students Honor Roll as well as the Alabama High School Athletic Association "A" Honor Roll.

Witcher is a member of the First Baptist Church of Cullman where he is the Student Choir President and a youth worship leader.
