Women's Basketball Travels To Austin Peay Saturday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford women's basketball team will play at Austin Peay Saturday at 5:15 p.m. in Clarksville, Tenn.

Samford enters the game with a record of 15-7 overall and 10-5 in the Ohio Valley Conference after a 67-56 loss to Eastern Illinois on Feb. 4. Austin Peay is currently 12-10 overall and 9-6 in conference play. The Lady Govs are coming off a 55-46 win at Eastern Illinois on Thursday.

Samford and Austin Peay will be meeting for the sixth time with Austin Peay leading the series, 3-2. Earlier this season, Austin Peay won, 60-59 in overtime at Seibert Hall.

So far this season, Samford is 7-4 away from Seibert Hall. The team is 7-3 in road games and 0-1 in neutral site games. Last season, the Bulldogs posted a record of 6-11 away from home, including a 4-10 record in road games, and a 2-1 mark at neutral sites.

As a team, Samford currently leads the Ohio Valley Conference in scoring defense (59.2 ppg.), three-point field goal percentage (37.0%), rebounding defense (31.9 rpg.) and three-point field goals made (6.59 pg.).

Samford players rank in the top five in the OVC in several categories. Sophomore forward Alex Munday ranks in the top five in the league in scoring (4th-16.1 ppg.) and three-point field-goal percentage (4th-41.4%).

Junior guard Chelsee Insell is in the top five in three-point field goal percentage (3rd-41.8%), while senior guard Cora Beth Smith ranks in the top five in assist/turnover ratio (2nd-+1.74).
