BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford football team practiced for two hours in full pads Tuesday afternoon at Seibert Stadium.
Prior to Tuesday's practice, the Bulldogs watched film from Saturday's scrimmage.
"I feel like they responded well after watching Saturday's film," Samford head coach Bill Gray said. "We have seen some bright spots on both sides of the ball. I think we are more athletic on defense than we have been in a while, and that is enabling us to make some plays we haven't made in the past.
"Offensively, we sat down as a staff and talked about some goals we needed to reach in the spring that would help us be a better offense, and I feel like we have met those," Gray said. "We have answered some questions and we've found out who we can count on and who we can't."
The Bulldogs still have one more workout remaining before concluding the spring season.
"We have one more time to come out here, and then the next time we are together, we will have some new faces with the signees coming in," Gray said. "But, we know the bulk of our games won and lost will be determined by the guys who are already here.
Gray singled out some individuals for their performance in Tuesday's workout.
"On defense, Quinton Smith continues to have a good day whenever he comes out here," Gray said. "I thought the quarterbacks, for the most part, made some good decisions today. There were some things with the running game that we didn't do well on Saturday, but we did better today. Up front, Graham Lemmond and Colby Hooper have been steady for us."
Samford will conclude spring practice with a 3:45 p.m. workout on Wednesday at Seibert Stadium.
