AUSTIN, Texas ---- The Samford University track and field team completed the first day of competition at the 79th annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, hosted by the University of Texas at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
The Bulldogs had four distance runners competing on Wednesday, and each turned in solid performances in their respective events.
Michael Hanson finished fourth in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase. Hanson ran a 10:13.72 in the event. In the men's 1500-meter run, Chris West turned in a 4:13.37 to finish 14th in the event.
Two Bulldogs competed in the men's invitational of the 10,000 meter run. Drew Anderwald finished 11th, posting a time of 33:19.93, while Cameron Bean ran a 33:37.90 to finish 13th.
The 79th annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays continue on Thursday. Michael Smith will run in the preliminaries of the 400-meter hurdles, in an attempt to qualify for the finals of the event and the NCAA Regional Championships. Live results will be posted at www.texassports.com throughout the day.
