BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
Samford freshman pitcher David Knapp was named the Ohio Valley Conference's Pitcher of the Week when the league released its weekly honors on Monday.
Knapp pitched a complete-game, one-hit shutout Sunday afternoon at Tennessee Tech. The game marked Knapp's first complete game in college. He struck out 11 batters while walking just three in the win.
For the season, Knapp has a record of 6-4 with a 3.50 ERA. He is second on the team with 65 strikeouts, with just 17 walks.
The honor marks the second time Knapp has been named the league's Pitcher of the Week. He also received the award on March 20.
