The top-seeded Samford baseball team will take on the sixth-seeded Southeast Missouri Redhawks Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. on the second day of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament at Brooks Stadium.
Southeast Missouri advanced to Thursday night's game with a 7-6 win over third-seeded Eastern Illinois Wednesday night. SEMO enters the game with a record of 22-31, while Samford is currently 32-23.
In the regular-season series between Samford and Southeast Missouri, Samford took two-of-three games in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Samford won game one, 6-5 before falling in game two, 7-4. Samford took the third game in the series by a score of 8-6 in 15 innings.
Parker Gargis currently leads Samford in batting average (.398). He also leads the team in RBI (48), hits (74) and doubles (14). John Morgan currently leads the team in runs scored (45), while Garrett Rice is the team-leader in home runs (7).
Josh Ehmke, who was named the OVC's Pitcher of the Year, will start the game on the mound for Samford. Ehmke has a record of 10-2 overall and 8-0 in OVC games. He has an ERA of 2.92.
