Football Practices Twice On Monday

Aug. 21, 2006

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team practiced twice on Monday, spending part of the evening practice in Bashinsky Fieldhouse due to inclement weather in the Birmingham area.

"We feel like we are making progress and are on schedule," Samford head coach Bill Gray said. "We are not ready to play tonight, but we will be ready on the thirty-first. There are still some things we need to polish up on.

"We feel good, we've been healthy for the most part," Gray said. "We had good work in the scrimmage on Saturday and we had some great evaluation tape to look at our players. We are on schedule."

The Bulldogs practiced Monday morning in Shells at Seibert Stadium, and Monday evening in full pads. The Bulldogs spent the first 45 minutes of the evening practice inside before moving back outside for the remainder of practice.

"We've been bouncing inside and out," Gray said. "Obviously, in the gym is not where we want to be, but with the surface we have now in the stadium, we are able to get out after a good shower and still get some quality work in."

Samford will practice once on Tuesday at 3:45 p.m., and twice on Wednesday, at 7:55 a.m. and again at 6:45 p.m.
