Former Samford University catcher Eric Hollis was recently promoted by the Chicago White Sox organization from the A Kannapolis Intimidators to the AA Birmingham Barons.
Hollis, a native of Sulligent, Ala., made his debut with the Barons Friday night, going 1-for-4 at the plate against the Huntsville Stars as the team's designated hitter.
In 13 games this season with the Intimidators, Hollis batted .250 with eight hits in 32 at-bats.
Hollis was a member of the Samford baseball team from 2001-2004. He was the team's main starting catcher as both a junior and senior. In his senior season, Hollis batted .314 with three home runs and 38 RBI.
