Football Game Notes
Sept. 4, 2006
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford football team practiced for about an hour in shells Monday evening at Seibert Stadium. The Bulldogs worked on correcting mistakes from Thursday night's season-opener against Miles College.
"We tried to treat it like a typical Monday," Samford head coach Bill Gray said. "We had some good film work. We got a good look at Georgia Tech and Notre Dame. The corrections we worked on were things we felt like we didn't handle well Thursday night.
"Then, we just installed basic things we think we will see against Georgia Tech on both sides of the ball," Gray said. "We are looking forward to a good week of work and the excitement of going to Atlanta this weekend."
Gray said playing in a Division I-A stadium against an ACC team added extra motivation for his players.
"Every young man that plays ball growing up wants to play in front of the biggest crowd, in the finest facilities and against top-notch competition," Gray said. "There's no question we will find all of that at Georgia Tech this weekend.
"Two years ago, we went over there and had a good trip," Gray said. "But, there are not a lot of guys on this team that made that trip. It will be a new group and a new experience for quite a few of them. We are anxious to go over there and get it started."
Samford will practice again Tuesday afternoon. Practice is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. at Seibert Stadium.
