Women's Basketball Game Notes In PDF Format

The Samford women's basketball team will play host to Eastern Kentucky Saturday afternoon at Seibert Hall.
Samford enters the game with a record of 9-9 overall and 4-5 in Ohio Valley Conference play after a 60-57 loss to Morehead State Thursday night. Eastern Kentucky is currently 7-11 overall and 4-5 in conference play following an 80-70 win at Jacksonville State Thursday night.
Samford and Eastern Kentucky are meeting for the eighth time with EKU holding a 5-2 advantage in the series. Last season, Samford swept the season series. The Bulldogs won, 71-68, at EKU, and Samford took the game in Birmingham by a score of 75-59.
Individually, Samford players rank in the top five in the OVC in several statistical categories. Taryn Towns ranks fourth in the league in free-throw percentage, making 83.1 percent of her attempts from the charity stripe. Alex Munday is tied for third in three-point field goal percentage at 44.3 percent. Veronica Pike is ranked third in field goal percentage at 55.0 percent.
As a team, Samford leads the league in scoring defense, allowing 57.7 points per game. The Bulldogs also lead the conference in three-point field goals per game, averaging 6.83 per game.
