Samford Softball Announces "Tune-Up For The Season" Clinic

Jan. 2, 2007

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford University softball program announced Tuesday that it will be hosting a one-day instructional clinic entitled "Tune-Up For The Season", that will be held 9 a.m., to 12:30 p.m., on Jan. 20 at Bulldog Field.

The basic premise of the upcoming clinic is to give high school players one final opportunity to hone their skills in time for spring practice to begin. A total of 10 percent of all proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

Samford's "Tune-Up For The Season" Clinic will be broken down into two smaller instructional clinics.

The first clinic will focus on hitting and mental game training and will be open for all athletes in grades 9-12. It will begin at 9 a.m., and will run until 12:30 p.m. The cost is $40 for advance sign-up and $45 for walk-ups.

The second clinic that will be held Jan. 20 is a pitching clinic. It is only open to pitchers, grades 9-12, and there are three different times to choose from.

The times of the aforementioned pitching clinics are 9 a.m., 10:15 a.m., and 11:30 a.m. Each session will last for approximately one hour and is limited to four pitchers each session. The cost for the pitching session is $25, and each participating pitcher must provide a catcher.

To sign up for either clinic, please contact Samford assistant coach Paul DuBose at either (205) 726-2218, or psdubose@samford.edu.
