BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The Samford men's and women's tennis teams will compete in the second annual UNF Fall Invitational this weekend, Oct. 12-14, hosted by the University of North Florida at the UNF Tennis Complex. The three-day event will field 19 teams from across the country.
The tournament will feature three draws in singles and doubles with consolation draws also scheduled for singes. There are two nationally-ranked teams, East Tennessee State (No. 49) on the men's side and Jacksonville (No. 70) on the women's side are the only ranked teams from last season in the tournament field.
Other teams in the men's draw include, Georgia Southern, Troy, Oregon, Memphis, Florida Atlantic and Bethune-Cookman. On the women's side, teams include Stetson, Georgia Southern, Troy, Jacksonville, UTEP, Mercer and Bethune-Cookman.
Play begins each day at 8 a.m., with the championship rounds in doubles scheduled for Saturday and singles finals set for Sunday afternoon. For a full recap and results of each day's competition for Samford, go to www.samfordsports.com.
