BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Samford junior pitcher Trent Hill was named the Ohio Valley Conference's Pitcher of the Week when the league released its weekly honors on Monday.

Hill, a transfer from Mississippi State, pitched 7.0 innings to earn the win in Saturday's 2-0 win over Arkansas State. Hill allowed just two hits, struck out seven batters and walked just one.

The game was Hill's Samford debut. Hill is a native of Jasper, Ala., and a graduate of Walker High School.

Samford will return to action Tuesday afternoon when the Bulldogs play host to Middle Tennessee at 3:00 p.m. at Joe Lee Griffin Field.
