The Samford baseball team will play at Alabama Wednesday night at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The game is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start.
Samford enters the game with a record of 20-20 overall and 6-9 in the Ohio Valley Conference after taking two of three games at Eastern Illinois over the weekend. Alabama is currently 23-18 overall and 8-10 in the SEC after dropping two of three games at Auburn over the weekend.
Samford is led at the plate by Michael Marseco, batting .353. Parker Gargis leads the team in home runs with 10 and RBI with 28. Luke Peavy is second in both categories with five home runs and 27 RBI. Chandler Tidwell has the lowest ERA of the team's starting pitchers at 2.42. Josh Ehmke leads the team in wins with a 5-4 record.
Alabama is led at the plate by Emeel Salem with a .354 batting average. Kent Matthes leads the team in home runs with eight and RBI with 36. Tommy Hunter has been the top pitcher for Alabama with a 3.36 ERA and a 4-3 record.
Earlier this season, on March 14, Samford defeated Alabama, 4-3 in 10 innings at Joe Lee Griffin Field. In the last 10 meetings, Samford has a 3-7 record against Alabama. Under head coach Casey Dunn, Samford is 1-2 against the Crimson Tide.
