Baseball Plays At Troy Tuesday Afternoon

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford baseball team will travel to Troy, Ala., to take on the Troy Trojans Tuesday afternoon at Riddle-Pace Field.

Samford enters the game with a record of 22-22 overall and 7-11 in Ohio Valley Conference play after dropping two of three games to Eastern Kentucky over the weekend. The Trojans are currently 29-17 overall and 14-8 in Sun Belt Conference play after winning two of three games against Louisiana-Monroe over the weekend.

Samford is led at the plate by Michael Marseco, batting .341. Parker Gargis leads the team in home runs with 11 and RBI with 34. Bear Burnett is the team-leader in doubles with 12, and Marseco, Gargis and John Morgan have one triple each.

Clint Jones is the probable starting pitcher for Samford with a record of 0-0 and a 6.75 ERA.

Clint Robinson leads the Trojans with a .359 batting average with 13 home runs and 54 RBI. Rob Brown is scheduled to start on the mound for Troy with a 4-1 record and a 6.87 ERA.

Last season, Samford took both of its meetings with Troy. Samford won the games, both played at Joe Lee Griffin Field, by scores of 9-8 and 6-5.
