BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford baseball team will play at Tennessee-Martin in a key Ohio Valley Conference series this weekend in Martin, Tenn.

This weekend marks the final series of the regular season. Samford enters the weekend with a record of 11-13 in OVC play, good for sixth place in the league. The top six teams qualify for next week's conference tournament.

If Samford can win two games this weekend, the Bulldogs will earn a spot in the OVC Tournament. Samford can also make the tournament if the Bulldogs win one game and Tennessee Tech and Morehead State each lose one. If Samford wins no games this weekend, Tennessee Tech and Morehead State would each have to lose at least two games for the Bulldogs to make the tournament.

Samford is led at the plate by Michael Marseco, batting .351. Parker Gargis is second in batting average at .318, and he leads the team in home runs with 11 and RBI with 44. Chandler Tidwell has the lowest ERA of the team's main starters at 3.63, and he has a record of 3-5. Josh Ehmke leads the team in wins with a 6-4 record.

UTM is led at the plate by Bryce Carden, batting .336 with four home runs and 22 RBI. Ryan Rockholt and Chadwick Cameron have earned four wins each on the mound for the Skyhawks.

The teams will play a doubleheader Friday at 1:00 p.m., and a single game Saturday at 1:00 p.m. All three games in the series can be heard locally on WVSU-FM 91.1, or worldwide on the internet at www.al.com/wvsu.
