The Samford Baseball field is set in between the almost completed state of the art 32 million dollar on campus basketball arena and athletic office building and the incredible hillsides of the Homewood area. In January of 2006, a half million dollar complete renovation of the playing surface with sprinkler system and irrigation was completed along with Georgian Colonial brick walls down the foul lines to complete the field.
This past winter a brand new Press Box facility was constructed atop of Joe Lee Griffin Stadium, which was built in 1999 in the heart of Samford University. The facility includes radio broadcast booths for home and away teams in addition to the normal press area. Baseball games are broadcast locally on 91.1 FM radio and over the internet. Live Stats are also available for almost all of the baseball games.
The biggest and most exciting addition to date is set to begin at the end of the summer with the construction of the Indoor Hitting Facility and Locker Room. The almost 3 million dollar facility will feature a 10,000 square feet artificially turfed area equipped with a number of cages and an over sized area for bullpens. The locker room area will feature showers, training room area, and lounge area. A brand new 5000 square foot weight room is included in the Basketball Arena.
