BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford football team practiced for a little over an hour in shorts and helmets Thursday afternoon at Seibert Stadium. The practice was the team's final full practice in preparation for Saturday's Ohio Valley Conference game at Eastern Kentucky.
"I thought we had a good practice," Samford head coach Pat Sullivan said. "Eastern Kentucky is a good football team. They are an experienced football team, they are big up front on both offense and defense and they have two very good running backs and good wide receivers."
Samford and Eastern Kentucky are meeting for the ninth time with EKU holding a 7-1 advantage in the series. Samford's lone win in the series came in 1992 in a 46-14 win at Seibert Stadium.
"It should be a physical football game," Sullivan said. "I think we have had a good week of practice, and our guys have worked hard. We have a lot of respect for them as a program and I am excited about going up and watching us play on Saturday."
The Bulldogs will leave Friday morning at 9 a.m. for Richmond, Ky. The team will have a walk-through at EKU's Roy Kidd Stadium Friday afternoon.
Saturday's game at Eastern Kentucky is scheduled for a 2 p.m. Central kickoff from Richmond, Ky. The game can be heard live on the Samford Radio Network. The flagship station for the network is WVSU-FM 91.1. The game can also be heard worldwide on the internet at www.al.com/wvsu, and it can be viewed on the internet at www.ovcsports.tv.
