BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford women's basketball team will play host to the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles in an Ohio Valley Conference contest Saturday afternoon at the Pete Hanna Center.

Samford enters the game with a record of 11-5 overall and 4-2 in OVC play after a 77-57 win over Tennessee State on Thursday. Samford has won its last four games in a row. Tennessee Tech is currently 3-13 overall and 2-4 in league play after a 71-68 win at Jacksonville State on Thursday.

Samford is led in scoring by freshman guard Emily London, averaging 11.3 points per game. Sophomore guard Monica Maxwell is second in scoring with an average of 10.5 points per game.

Maxwell leads the team in rebounding with an average of 4.5 rebounds per game. Freshman Savannah Hill is second in rebounding, pulling down 4.4 boards per contest.

Senior Taryn Towns leads the team in assists, dishing out 3.6 assists per game. London is second in the category, with an average of 2.8 per game.

Samford players rank in the top five in the OVC in several statistical categories. Towns is currently ranked third in assist-turnover ratio (2.11) and fourth in free-throw percentage (87.2%). London ranks third in three-point field goal percentage (45.9%), while Maxwell ranks fifth in three-point field goals per game (2.19 pg.).

As a team, Samford leads the OVC in scoring defense (59.5 ppg.), field-goal percentage (43.6%) and assist-turnover ratio (1.01).

Samford and Tennessee Tech are meeting for the 10th time, with Tech holding a 6-3 advantage in the series. The teams split the regular-season series last year, and Samford defeated Tech in a first-round OVC Tournament game, 63-60 at Seibert Hall.
