Bulldogs 13th After Day One Of Mizuno Savannah Intercollegiate

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Samford University men's golf team carded an opening-day score of 622 on Monday during the first two rounds of the 2008 Mizuno Savannah Intercollegiate held at the Savannah Quarters Country Club. The Bulldogs ended the day as the 13th-place team in the field.

Samford opened Monday's competition with a first-round score of 308, but then turned in a mark of 314 in the second round. The Bulldogs' Ian Cutting finished with the team's best two-round score of the day. A senior from Fayetteville, Ga., Cutting tallied a pair of 77s to register his day-one score of 154.

Samford's Martin Bunt turned in the team's best single-round score Monday. A sophomore from Pensacola, Fla., Bunt fired a 2-over 74 in the opening 18 holes of competition.

Host Georgia Southern is leading the event with a two-round score of 570. The Eagles' Logan Blondell, Spencer Fulford and Drew Lethem finished the day placed 1-2-3 in the individual rankings. Blondell carded a two-round score of 139 (67-72) to lead the competition.

The Samford University men's golf team will resume play in the 2008 Mizuno Savannah Intercollegiate on Tuesday as the Bulldogs compete in the final 18 holes at the Greg Norman-designed Savannah Quarters Country Club.
