Women's Basketball Game Notes In PDF Format

The Samford women's basketball team will play host to the Elon Phoenix Friday night in the first Southern Conference basketball to be held in the Pete Hanna Center.
Samford enters the game with a record of 6-3 overall and 1-1 in Southern Conference play after a 63-51 loss at No. 9 Baylor on Dec. 13. Elon is currently 1-9 overall and 0-4 in SoCon play after a 70-51 loss at Chattanooga on Dec. 17. Friday night's game will be the first-ever meeting between Samford and Elon.
Samford is led in scoring by Savannah Hill, with an average of 12.9 points per game. Emily London is second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.0 points per game.
Hill is also the team leader in rebounds. Hill is currently pulling down 5.6 rebounds per game. Monica Maxwell is second on the team in rebounds with an average of 4.1 boards per contest.
London is leading the team in assists, averaging 3.1 assists per game. Maxwell is second in the category, dishing out 2.0 assists per game.
Elon is led by Tiffany Davis, averaging 8.9 points per game. Urysla Cotton averages 7.4 points and a team-high 7.1 rebounds per game.
Samford is currently the national leader in fewest turnovers per game. The Bulldogs average just 10.9 turnovers per game, the top average in the nation. Samford is also ranked third in the nation in three-point field goal defense (20.0%) and ninth in turnover margin (7.63).
Entering Friday night's game, Samford ranks among the leaders in the Southern Conference in several statistical categories. The Bulldogs rank in the top five in scoring defense (1st-54.4 ppg.), scoring margin (3rd-+5.8 ppg.), free throw percentage (3rd-.745), field goal percentage defense (3rd-.366), three-point field goal percentage defense (1st-.200), rebounding defense (5th-38.2 rpg.), turnover margin (1st-+7.63 pg.), assist/turnover ratio (1st-1.1) and three-point field goals made per game (2nd-6.4 pg.).
