Baseball To Take On In-State Rivals In Two Midweek Games

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford baseball team will play two midweek games against in-state opponents this week. The Bulldogs will play host to Troy Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at Joe Lee Griffin Field, and they will play at UAB Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. at the Blazers' Young Memorial Field.

Samford enters the week with a record of 17-10 after dropping two of three games at Jacksonville State over the weekend. Troy is currently 20-12 after sweeping a series against Arkansas State last weekend. UAB enters the week with a record of 12-17 after winning two of three games against Presbyterian over the weekend.

Samford is led at the plate by shortstop Michael Marseco, batting .398 with three triples and 28 RBI. Third baseman Michael Rutledge is currently batting .373 with a team-high 12 doubles and 31 RBI. Jonathan Stephens (4-0, 2.42 ERA) and Michael Jarry (1-2, 5.58 ERA) have had impressive pitching performances for the Bulldogs this season.

Troy is led by Beau Brooks, batting .339 with 23 RBI. Bryan Miller is batting .333 with 16 doubles and 23 RBI.

For UAB, Ryan Keedy has led the Blazers with a .429 batting average with 29 RBI. Cody McMurry is batting .300 with 27 RBI for UAB.
