BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
Several former Samford baseball players are making their mark at the professional level. Below are updates on former Bulldogs in professional baseball. They are listed in alphabetical order.
Stephen Artz (2003-06) is currently with the Charleston RiverDogs, the Class A, South Atlantic League affiliate of the New York Yankees. Artz, in his second season with the club, has a record of 1-2 and an ERA of 4.56.
Joseph Edens (2004-07), who was taken in the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft by the San Francisco Giants, is now playing for the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, the Giants' affiliate in the Class A Northwest League. Edens has earned two saves so far this season, and has a 5.14 ERA in 7.0 innings of work.
Eric Hollis (2001-04) plays for the Birmingham Barons, the Double A, Southern League affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. Hollis has a .210 batting average with a double and four RBI so far this season with the Barons.
Michael Marseco (2005-08), selected in the 11th round of the 2008 MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers, is currently with the Helena Brewers of the Rookie Pioneer League. In his first 24 games of professional baseball, Marseco is batting .224 with seven doubles and 10 RBI.
Ehren Wassermann (2002-03), who earlier saw time in the Major Leagues with the Chicago White Sox, is now with the Charlotte Knights. The Knights are the Triple-A, International League affiliate of the White Sox. With the Knights this season, Wassermann has earned seven saves and has a 0.78 ERA.
