Samford Baseball - 2008 Fall Showcase Camp
The Samford Baseball program will put on their 5th Annual Fall Baseball Showcase Camp on Saturday, September 13, 2008 after last years event set attendance records. Players will go through a skills evaluation, receive baseball instruction, and be placed on teams to play in live game atmosphere for the various coaching staffs offering instruction.
During the first four years of the Casey Dunn baseball staff, the Samford Baseball program signed 19 student athletes that appeared at our fall showcases or camps including an 11th round draft. Several others have been signed and identified by other major division I programs and junior colleges on hand as well during that time span.
Registration and check-in will take place starting at 11:30 with the Showcase beginning at 12:30 and running to approximately 7:30 - depending on the overall numbers and total of pitchers. The specific other schools in attendance will be announced at a later date. The cost of the one day showcase is $85.00 for position players and $50.00 for "Pitcher Only's" (pitchers that will only be pitching in the game). The Showcase will be limited to the first 120 players that register. The 2007 Showcase was full two weeks prior to the event - so please register immediately!!
SHOWCASE TIDBITS
Location: Entire event at Samford Baseball Stadium. Enter at the West most entrance across from Homewood High School. Turn left after the security house and go up the hill to a parking lot behind the baseball stadium. The registration table will be set up there.
Needs: Players need to bring normal baseball game gear. Catchers should bring their equipment if possible, although we will have some available.
Games: The games are designed for players of all positions to showcase ability. Primary Position pitchers are guaranteed to pitch in game against hitters. Hitters will get multiple at bats aside from hitting evaluations in cages and on the field.
Pitcher ONLY Players that will pitch in the game only will be charged a different price of $50.00. The players will be assigned a team and specific game time for arrival.
Conclusion: The Showcase is tentatively set to conclude with the end of the final game ending around 7:30. The event may run longer depending on pitching.
