Women's Basketball Game Notes In PDF Format

The Samford women's basketball team will return home after a four-game road swing to play host to Appalachian State in a Southern Conference game Saturday afternoon at the Pete Hanna Center. Saturday's game will be the first-ever meeting between Samford and Appalachian State.
Samford enters the game with a record of 12-3 overall and 7-1 in Southern Conference play after a 58-52 win at Furman on Wednesday. Samford has won seven-straight SoCon games and is currently in a three-way tie for first place in the league.
Appalachian State is currently 3-12 overall and 2-5 in SoCon play. The Mountaineers have won two of their last three games and are coming off a 73-68 win over UNC Greensboro on Jan. 12.
Samford is led in scoring by sophomore forward Savannah Hill, averaging 13.4 points per game. Sophomore guard Emily London is second in scoring with an average of 11.9 points per game.
Hill also leads the team in rebounding, pulling down 5.6 boards per contest. London is second in rebounding, with an average of 4.3 rebounds per game.
London leads the team in assists, averaging 2.6 assists per game. Hill is second on the squad in assists, dishing out 2.3 assists per game.
Brittany Mixon leads Appalachian State in scoring, averaging 11.1 points per game. Sam Ramirez averages 10.9 points per game for ASU. Canesha Edwards is ASU's leading rebounder, pulling down 9.0 boards per contest.
Entering Saturday's game, Samford leads the Southern Conference in several statistical categories. The Bulldogs lead the league in scoring defense (52.2 ppg.), field goal percentage defense (35.3%), three-point field goal percentage defense (21.4%), turnover margin (+4.53) and assist/turnover ratio (1.0).
Individually, Samford players rank among conference leaders in a few statistical categories as well. Hill ranks fourth in the league in scoring (13.4 ppg.), London ranks third in free throw percentage (84.2%), fourth in three-point field goal percentage (44.1%) and is tied for third in three-point field goals made per game (2.0 pg.). Junior guard Monica Maxwell is ranked second in three-point field goals made per game (2.1 pg.) and senior guard Karmen Smith leads the league in assist/turnover ratio (2.2).
