SPARTANBURG, S.C. ---- Senior middle blocker Sheriden Stangohr has been named the Southern Conference Volleyball November Player of the Month, announced the league office on Thursday. The athletes of the month are nominated by each member institution and selected by the conference office.
"This is a really nice way for Sheriden to end her career," Samford head coach Derek Schroeder said. "She deserves a copious amount of individual accolades considering number of individual and career records she set this year alone. She was a large part of our success in the past two years, and we appreciate her hard work and dedication to this program."
A First-Team All-SoCon selection as well as a member of the All-Tournament team, Stangohr finished the month with a .315 hitting percentage while averaging 3.26 kills per set. She notched a month-high in kills and hitting against Western Carolina on Senior Day with a 18 kills and a .469 percentage. She also posted a .364 hitting percentage in the previous game against Appalachian State and grabbed seven block assists and 11 kills against UNC Greensboro to start the month. She racked up 23 total blocks in five matches in the month of November and was responsible for 78.5 points.
Other nominees for the award were College of Charleston's Ginny Phillips, Furman's Natalie Braun and Georgia Southern's Kate Van Dyke.
